Farmington, Mo. (KFMO) - The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting Thursday, Sept. 4, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Farmington Fire Department to discuss planned improvements for Route D (North Washington Street) in Farmington.
The project calls for widening Route D with a two-way left-turn lane from Hillsboro Road to Route 32, extending the southbound right-turn lane onto Route 32, rebuilding the roadway from Route EE to Route 32, improving drainage, and updating pedestrian facilities to meet ADA requirements. MoDOT also plans to implement safety measures to reduce traffic conflict points along the corridor.
Two construction options are being considered: a full road closure with a 10 to 12 month detour, or staged construction that would keep the road open but extend the project timeline to about 15 months. Construction is expected to begin as early as summer 2027, with completion anticipated by fall 2028.
The meeting will be open-house style, allowing the public to stop by and speak with project staff.
