National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Set for April 25

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - Communities across the country, including those in the Parkland, will participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

The event, organized in part by the Drug Enforcement Administration, provides residents with a safe and responsible way to dispose of unused or expired medications.

Officials say proper disposal helps prevent accidental misuse, reduces youth access to medications, and combats prescription drug abuse.

The take back event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with local drop-off sites including Parkland Pharmacy in Desloge and the Farmington Police Department.

Items accepted typically include:

  • Prescription medications
  • Over-the-counter medications
  • Pet medications
  • Tablets, capsules, and patches

Items not accepted usually include liquids, needles, and sharps.

Residents are encouraged to clean out medicine cabinets and take advantage of this opportunity to safely dispose of medications they no longer need.
