Washington Co., Mo. (KFMO) - The National Weather Service (NWS) surveyed storm damage in Washington County Wednesday morning and confirmed that a brief EF-1 tornado touched down during Tuesday afternoon’s severe weather.
According to the NWS, the tornado began west of Bates Creek Camp and tracked northeast into southern Potosi, leaving behind a trail of damage. The tornado had an estimated path length of 4.2 miles and a maximum width of 150 yards.
The storm caused damage to buildings and trees along its path, but no injuries or fatalities were reported. Emergency crews and county officials are continuing to assess cleanup needs in the affected areas.
The EF-1 rating indicates wind speeds between 86 and 110 miles per hour.
