Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Drivers traveling on northbound Interstate 55 between Route Z and Route M, in Jefferson County, should plan for overnight closures next week as crews continue work on a new bridge over the BNSF railroad.
Weather permitting, all northbound lanes of I-55 will close nightly from Tuesday, December 9 through Saturday, December 13 between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. Crews will use the closures to set girders for the new bridge. A signed detour will guide drivers around the work zone. Traffic will exit I-55 at Route Z (Exit 180) and turn right, then proceed to U.S. Route 61/67 and turn left. Motorists will continue along Route 61/67 until reaching Route M, where they will turn left and use the ramp on the right side of Route M to re-enter northbound I-55.
Transportation officials encourage drivers to use caution, follow posted detour signs, and allow extra travel time during the closures.
