Washington Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A pedestrian was struck and killed Wednesday night on Missouri Route 21 north of Shepard Road in Washington County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the crash happened just after 9:30 p.m. According to the report, a 68-year-old Potosi man was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado southbound when a pedestrian ran into the roadway from the west side of the highway. The driver attempted to avoid the pedestrian by slowing down and swerving, but the right side of the vehicle struck the individual.
The pedestrian, a 42-year-old man from Cadet, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Washington County Coroner at 9:43 p.m.
The vehicle sustained minor damage and was towed from the scene. The driver was not reported injured.
