St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A Piedmont man and two young children were injured in a rollover crash Friday morning in St. Francois County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened at 6:59 a.m. on U.S. 67, just north of Route DD.
Troopers say 21-year-old Mason A. Boren was driving a 2011 Nissan Versa northbound when the vehicle drifted into the right lane. Boren reportedly swerved left to avoid another vehicle, then swerved back right to avoid the cable median barrier, causing him to lose control. The vehicle skidded off the right side of the roadway and overturned.
Boren was totally ejected from the vehicle and suffered moderate injuries. Two 2-year-old boys in the car also sustained moderate injuries. The children were taken to Parkland Health Center South by ambulance. Boren was transported to Mercy Hospital South.
Following the crash, the Highway Patrol arrested Boren at 7:31 a.m. on charges of driving while intoxicated (drugs), DWI resulting in physical injury, and DWI with a person under 17 in the vehicle. He was released from custody at Mercy Hospital South.
