Pilot Knob, Mo. (KFMO) - The Pilot Knob Fire Protection District is teaming up with the American Red Cross to help protect local families through the Red Cross Home Fire Preparedness Campaign.
The initiative is designed to make homes more fire resistant by providing free smoke alarm installations and fire safety education to residents in the community.
Through the program, trained volunteers will visit homes at no cost to demonstrate simple safety improvements that can reduce the risk of fire-related injuries and fatalities. If a home does not have working smoke alarms, volunteers will install them free of charge.
In addition to installing smoke alarms, families will receive:
- Assistance developing a Family Disaster Plan
- Important emergency preparedness tips and safety information
- Guidance on protecting loved ones in the event of a fire
All demonstrations and installations are conducted by Red Cross-trained volunteers and/or licensed and insured professionals.
Residents who would like to participate are encouraged to fill out the official request form and answer all required questions. A team member will follow up to schedule an appointment for the free in-home smoke alarm installation.
Fire officials say working smoke alarms are one of the most effective ways to prevent fire-related injuries and deaths, and they encourage area residents to take advantage of this no-cost opportunity to protect their families.
