Potosi, Mo. (KFMO) - A Potosi man is facing felony drug charges after a traffic stop led to the discovery of suspected methamphetamine.
According to the Potosi Police Department, the incident occurred on March 24, 2026, when an officer conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation. During the stop, the officer made contact with the driver and a passenger, identified as Shawn W. Williams of Potosi.
Police say the driver gave consent to search the vehicle. During the investigation, officers reportedly located a used syringe on Williams. A further search allegedly revealed a large baggie containing a crystal-like substance, which field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Williams was taken into custody and has been charged with Trafficking Drugs in the Second Degree, as well as Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Prior Drug Offense.
He is currently being held at the Washington County Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
Authorities say the case remains under investigation.
