Potosi School District Adds 14 Electric Buses to Fleet

Potosi, Mo. (KFMO) - The Potosi School District is expanding its transportation fleet with the addition of 14 new electric buses, marking a major step toward cleaner and more efficient student transportation.

Superintendent Bryce Wilson says the transition to electric buses has gone smoothly since they were put into service.

Although the district took delivery of the buses in November, officials had to complete licensing requirements and obtain Environmental Protection Agency approval stickers before the vehicles could officially hit the road.

The total cost of the 14 electric buses was approximately $1.4 million. That expense was fully covered through Clean School Bus grant funding provided by the Environmental Protection Agency and Ameren, allowing the district to modernize its fleet at no cost to local taxpayers.

With the addition of the new electric models, the Potosi School District now operates a total of 35 buses, enhancing both capacity and environmental sustainability.
