Perry Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A Potosi woman faces multiple charges after a wrong-way crash late Saturday night on Interstate 55 in Perry County that left her and three others injured.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 11:50 p.m. at the 137-mile marker on southbound I-55. Troopers say 34-year-old Amanda N. Skaggs of Potosi was driving a 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan southbound in the northbound lanes when her vehicle struck a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta head-on.
Skaggs suffered serious injuries and was flown by Air Evac to Mercy Hospital South. Three people in the Volkswagen, an 18-year-old male driver, an 18-year-old male passenger, and a 15-year-old male passenger, all from St. Louis, sustained moderate injuries and were taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital Perry.
The Patrol reports Skaggs was later arrested at 12:03 a.m. Sunday on charges of driving while intoxicated, possession of a controlled substance, and three counts of second-degree assault. She was held at Mercy Hospital South and later released.
Both vehicles were extensively damaged and towed from the scene.
