Potosi, Mo. (KFMO) - A voluntary precautionary water boil order has been issued for businesses and residents along High Street in Potosi, following two water main breaks Saturday night.
The boil order applies only to High Street between North Missouri Street and Stone Street and went into effect Sunday morning. City officials say the order will remain in place for 48 hours while water samples are collected and tested. Notification will be provided once the order is lifted. Officials stress this is strictly a precautionary boil order.
The water main breaks occurred late Saturday night, forcing crews to spend several hours in bitter cold temperatures and snowy conditions to make repairs. In addition to disrupting service, the breaks caused damage to some local businesses in the affected area.
Customers and businesses within the designated area are advised to boil tap water before using it for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth until the precautionary order is officially lifted.
