Terre Du Lac, Mo. (KFMO) - Residents of Terre Du Lac can expect to see a radar speed trailer within the development in the coming days after the Missouri State Highway Patrol agreed to loan the equipment to the community.
The trailer is being provided as a courtesy to help remind motorists to pay attention to their speed while traveling through neighborhood streets. Community officials say the goal is to increase awareness of vehicle speeds and promote safer driving conditions for residents, pedestrians, and other motorists.
The radar speed trailer displays a driver's current speed as they approach, serving as a visual reminder to slow down when necessary. While the device can help encourage compliance with posted speed limits, it is not being used as an enforcement tool.
Officials emphasized that the Missouri State Highway Patrol does not have authority to enforce speed limits within Terre Du Lac because the development's roads are privately owned. As a result, the patrol's involvement is limited to providing the trailer as a public service.
Community leaders hope the trailer will encourage safer driving habits and help reduce speeding concerns throughout Terre Du Lac.
