Route C Bridge Over Big River Reopens After Replacement Project

Washington Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Washington County drivers once again have access to Route C over the Big River, as the bridge officially reopened last week following months of construction.

The Missouri Department of Transportation partnered with Robertson Contractors, Inc. to replace the original bridge, which was built in 1934 and had reached the end of its service life. Crews began work in late May 2025, removing the aging structure and constructing a new bridge designed to improve safety and traffic flow.

The updated bridge sits on a new alignment, is wider than the previous structure, and includes upgraded approaches along with a raised deck to help prevent flooding issues.

The total project cost was $2,088,206.38.
