Second-Alarm Fire Destroys Home Outside DeSoto

DeSoto, Mo. (KFMO) - A second-alarm structure fire heavily damaged a residence late Friday night outside DeSoto.

At approximately 11 p.m., DeSoto Rural Fire Protection District crews were dispatched by Jefferson County 9-1-1 to the 3000 block of Thompson Road for a reported residential structure fire. An off-duty Hematite Fire Protection District member arrived on scene first and reported a large, two-story home that was already well involved with fire. Due to the volume of flames and the need for additional water supply and manpower, a second alarm was requested. Firefighters arriving on scene deployed multiple handlines and initiated a defensive fire attack to contain the blaze. Crews worked for an extended period before the fire was brought under control.

The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office was requested to respond to assist with the investigation into the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported.
