Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation in a possible road rage incident involving gunfire that happened Sunday afternoon, August 24.
Deputies responded around 4 p.m. to the area of Highway 21 near Highway M. Investigators say a pickup truck and three motorcyclists were involved in the altercation. During the incident, one motorcycle collided with the pickup, leaving the 69-year-old rider with non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Another motorcyclist, age 38, lost control of his bike and crashed, suffering injuries that were treated at the scene. Authorities say the 42-year-old driver of the pickup pulled to the side of the road and remained in his vehicle. He was then approached by the third motorcyclist, a 38-year-old man. During the confrontation, the pickup driver drew a handgun and fired at least one shot. No one was hit by the gunfire, and the driver stayed at the scene to speak with investigators.
At this time, investigators say it is unclear what led to the initial collision. Conflicting accounts have been given by those involved, and detectives continue to review the case. No arrests have been made, and no charges are being sought at this time.
