St. Louis, Mo. (KFMO) - Spring break visitors looking for family-friendly entertainment can find plenty to do at St. Louis Union Station, where the St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station is hosting a baseball-themed “Spring Training” celebration through March 29.
The seasonal event blends two popular St. Louis traditions, animals and baseball, with special activities and presentations throughout the aquarium.
One highlight is the daily “All-Star Animals” presentations at the Ambassador Animal Stage. Sessions are scheduled at 10:30 a.m., noon and 2 p.m., showcasing different animals and providing visitors with behind-the-scenes insight into how aquarium staff train and care for them. Guests attending the presentations also receive a collectible baseball card featuring the featured animal.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet the aquarium’s newest residents, North American river otters Beau and Claire. The pair arrived from wildlife sanctuaries that rescue river otters and are settling into their new habitat.
The aquarium’s mascot, Shark Twain, will host meet-and-greet sessions each afternoon at 3 p.m., giving families the chance to take photos and interact with the character.
Other activities include a water-themed scavenger hunt where guests can build their own “animal dream team” while learning about water conservation. Children can also visit the KidZone area to design a custom baseball team pennant.
Spring break fun extends beyond the aquarium at Union Station’s nearby attractions. Guests can ride the 200-foot St. Louis Wheel, enjoy mini-golf, the St. Louis Carousel, the Wave Swinger ride, the Flying Louie pirate ship, and the Loco Motion roller coaster.
Visitors can also stay overnight at the St. Louis Union Station Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton, where bundled attraction packages can provide discounts on tickets.
St. Louis Union Station opened in 1894 and is a National Historic Landmark that once served as one of the busiest train terminals in the United States. Today, the site has been transformed into one of the region’s premier family entertainment destinations, featuring attractions, restaurants, and lodging.
