St. Francois County 4-H Hosts Second Annual Chicken & Dumpling Dinner, Serving 400 Meals

St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - The St. Francois County 4-H Club, in partnership with the University of Missouri Extension office, recently hosted the Second Annual “Soup, There It Is!” Chicken & Dumpling Dinner, serving 400 meals to residents across the county.

Kayce Amsden, Youth Program Associate with the Extension office, updated the St. Francois County Commission on Tuesday, noting that last year’s event was a success and that this year’s goal was to make it even bigger and better.

Even without a grant this year, Amsden and Sarah Barks, Community Health Specialist, sought donations from local businesses and organizations, including the St. Francois County Rotary, Walmart, and Save-A-Lot Food Stores. Their outreach helped provide both food and monetary contributions to support the event.

A friendly competition among county offices helped raise even more donations, with the County Clerk’s office coming in first place. The event reflects a growing tradition of community involvement and service in St. Francois County, bringing neighbors together while supporting those in need.

St. Francois County Clerk Kevin Engler, and his staff, won first place in a friendly competition between county offices to help raise food and funds for prject.
