St. Francois County Rotary Supports Feed My Sheep and 4-H Efforts to Fight Hunger

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - The St. Francois County Rotary Club is recognizing and supporting local organizations that continue to make a difference in the fight against hunger across the Parkland.

During this week’s Rotary Club meeting, Elizabeth Poston with Feed My Sheep received a $500 donation from the organization to help support its mission of serving those in need. Rotary members also used the meeting to promote the annual bake sale happening this weekend at First Baptist Church of Desloge.

The bake sale supports six food pantries in St. Francois County and offers community members a chance to enjoy breakfast, purchase baked goods, and help local families facing food insecurity.

A second guest at the meeting was Kayce Amsden with St. Francois County 4-H, who provided an update on several recent service projects led by local youth.

Amsden said 4-H members held a food drive in February aimed at helping fight hunger in St. Francois County. That effort resulted in more than 2,200 pounds of food being collected for local families in need.

The group also organized a chicken and dumpling dinner to help feed families in Bismarck. According to the update, 4-H members helped prepare and serve enough food for 450 people, while also sending meals to shelters in the area.

Rotary leaders say food insecurity remains an ongoing issue for many school-age children in the county. They say it is the willingness of local youth to step up and give back that makes programs like St. Francois County 4-H so important to support.

The St. Francois County Rotary Club says it remains committed to backing organizations and programs that help strengthen the community and provide relief to local families.
