St. Francois County Sees 12.34 Percent Turnout in April Municipal Election

St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - St. Francois County voters turned out Tuesday for the April General Municipal Election, with just over 12 percent of registered voters casting ballots.

According to county figures, 5,194 out of 42,105 registered voters took part in the election on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, resulting in a 12.34 percent voter turnout.

St. Francois County Clerk Kevin Engler says he was pleased with how the election process unfolded across the county.

Engler says the changes made to the county’s polling center system appeared to work well during the election.

He says the April election provided a valuable opportunity to test the county’s updated election setup ahead of future, higher-turnout elections.

Engler did note one area of concern. He says the First State Community Center did not attract as many voters as some of the other polling places, particularly Election Central on Weber Road. He says that is something election officials plan to evaluate moving forward.

County officials have been transitioning to an updated polling model aimed at improving voter access and streamlining the election process throughout St. Francois County.
