St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - The St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department stayed busy as the latest winter weather system moved through the region.
Between 10 a.m. Monday and 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to 49 calls related to accidents, motorist assists, and road hazards across the county. Sheriff Jeff Crites says his deputies worked closely with the county’s Road and Bridge Department to address trouble areas, often referred to as “hot spots,” to improve safety as conditions deteriorated. Crites reports the department has logged 19,466 calls for service for the year, as of Tuesday. Over the past week, deputies responded to 374 calls.
He notes the weekly numbers are beginning to drop, which he believes may be partly due to shifting weather patterns.
