St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Two years after receiving $1.2 million from national opioid settlements, St. Francois County is updating residents on the status of these funds, which are intended to support drug rehabilitation and educational initiatives.
County Auditor Louie Seiberlich says the county has opened three separate application windows for local organizations and agencies to apply for grants.
Seiberlich notes that once applications are approved, funds can be used for treatment services, prevention programs, or educational resources for residents affected by opioid use. He emphasizes that the county has a 40-year timeline to utilize the funds, providing flexibility for long-term planning and sustainable programming.
He says that he hopes more funding will be made available in the future.
