St. Louis Man Drowns at Meramec State Park

Sullivan, Mo. (KFMO) - A 25-year-old man from St. Louis has died after drowning Saturday morning at Meramec State Park.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 8:45 a.m. near the campground’s secondary boat ramp. Investigators say the man entered the water to swim but began to struggle and did not resurface.

Emergency crews from the Sullivan Fire Protection District responded to the scene and recovered the man from the water. He was transported to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The Sullivan Fire Protection District first reported the incident at approximately 9:14 a.m. 

The drowning remains under investigation.
