Madison Co., Mo. (KFMO) - The Madison County Sheriff’s Office helped solve an unusual case Monday morning after a call came in about a stolen art exhibit.
The missing piece wasn’t a painting or sculpture, but a 4-foot-tall bright orange penguin statue taken from a hotel and museum in the St. Louis Area. The penguin had a GPS tracker installed, which guided investigators to its location in Madison County. Deputies safely recovered the statue and identified possible suspects.
Their information has been forwarded to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. At this time, no charges are pending.
