Stolen Vehicle Recovered After Multi-Agency Pursuit Through St. Francois County

Bonne Terre, Mo. (KFMO) - A stolen vehicle reported in Bonne Terre was recovered Thursday evening following a pursuit that involved several law enforcement agencies across St. Francois County.

According to the Bonne Terre Police Department, officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at approximately 5 p.m. on March 26, 2026. After receiving the report, officers quickly provided Central Dispatch with the vehicle description and license plate information so nearby agencies could be alerted.

A short time later, an officer with the Farmington Police Department located the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Police say the driver refused to stop, leading officers on a pursuit.

The chase moved through Leadington and Park Hills, continued into St. Francois County, and eventually entered St. Joe State Park on Pimville Road. Authorities were able to bring the vehicle to a stop on Pimville Road, where the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

Police identified the suspect as Roger Hanson of Bonne Terre. He is being held on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges of stealing a motor vehicle. The case has been forwarded to the St. Francois County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.

The stolen vehicle was recovered and is expected to be returned to its owner.

The Bonne Terre Police Department thanked the Farmington Police Department, Park Hills Police Department, St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department, and other assisting agencies for their coordinated efforts in safely ending the pursuit.

Police are also reminding residents to lock their vehicles and remove keys and valuables, noting that simple precautions can help reduce the risk of vehicle theft.
