Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - A strong line of storms moved through the Parkland late Sunday afternoon, triggering a tornado warning for St. Francois and Ste. Genevieve Counties and leaving behind reports of damage and power outages.
The storm system brought powerful winds as it pushed across the region. Officials say there were scattered reports of power outages and downed power lines as the storms moved through the area. In Park Hills, a report indicated that an outbuilding was destroyed during the storms.
Strong winds were already impacting the region before the storms arrived. Wind gusts reached as high as 49 miles per hour Sunday morning ahead of the approaching cold front.
Once the front passed through the Parkland, temperatures dropped quickly as much colder air moved into the region. In some areas of Missouri, the colder air even produced light snow overnight.
Weather officials say the system highlights the rapidly changing weather conditions that can occur during the early spring season in the Midwest.
