Teen Driver Injured After Freightliner Crashes on U.S. 67 in St. Francois County

St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A 19-year-old man from Ironton was injured in a single-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck early Monday morning in St. Francois County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. on May 18, 2026 along southbound U.S. 67 south of Route Y.

Troopers reported that the driver of a 2000 Freightliner long conventional truck was traveling in the second lane of southbound U.S. 67 when he reportedly fell asleep at the wheel. The truck traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a rock bluff along with a small cluster of trees.

The Freightliner sustained total damage and was removed from the scene.

The driver suffered minor injuries in the crash and was transported by St. Francois County Ambulance to Parkland Health Center in Bonne Terre for treatment. The Missouri State Highway Patrol report states the driver was not wearing a safety device at the time of the crash.
