Three-Alarm Fire Destroys Commercial Automotive Shops Along Highway 21

Iron Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A three-alarm commercial structure fire kept firefighters busy late Monday night in the Pilot Knob area.

At approximately 9:11 p.m., the Pilot Knob Fire Protection District was dispatched to a reported commercial structure fire in the 21000 block of Highway 21. Multiple units responded to the scene along with automatic aid companies from surrounding departments. Upon arrival, firefighters found two large commercial automotive repair shops heavily involved with fire. Due to the intensity of the blaze, a second alarm was quickly requested to bring additional personnel and equipment to the scene.

As firefighting operations continued, a third alarm was later called because of the distance between the fire and the nearest available water sources, requiring additional tanker support to maintain water supply. Fire crews operated on scene for approximately two and a half hours before bringing the fire under control. No injuries were reported during the incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Missouri Division of Fire Safety Fire Investigations Unit.
