Washington Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A planned traffic shift on the Missouri Route 8 bridge in Washington County, last month, has been delayed due to scheduling issues.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the shift on the Route 8 bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad has been pushed to this week. The shift will take place after guardrail installation and roadway striping are completed.
Guardrail installation began Friday, February 27, 2026, and is expected to continue into this week. Once that work is complete, crews will stripe the roadway and shift traffic onto the newly rehabilitated half of the bridge.
MoDOT says precipitation and colder temperatures in the forecast could result in additional delays.
After traffic is moved to the new half of the bridge, the contractor will begin rehabilitating the second half. During that phase, traffic will continue to be reduced to a single lane controlled by temporary signals, as it has been throughout the project.
Pending weather or other complications, the contractor’s goal is to complete the bridge deck rehabilitation project in April 2026.
