Truck Driver Shot on I-55 Near Barnhart; One Suspect in Custody

Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A truck driver was shot and injured Monday morning during what investigators say was an isolated incident between two semi-truck drivers on Interstate 55 near Barnhart.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to northbound I-55 at Highway M around 8 a.m. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was treated and transported for medical care; his condition has not yet been released.

Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a dispute between the two truck drivers. One person has been taken into custody in connection with the incident. Authorities are still working to determine the exact location along the interstate where the shooting took place.

The incident shut down two northbound lanes for nearly two hours, creating significant traffic delays during the morning commute. The roadway was cleared when the involved truck was removed from the scene shortly after 10 a.m.

The investigation remains active.
