Two Children Killed in Early Morning House Fire in Perryville

Perryville, Mo. (KFMO) - Two children are dead after a devastating house fire early Thursday morning in Perryville.

According to the Perryville Fire Department, crews were dispatched around 7:15 a.m. on December 11 to the 700 block of Bruce Street for a reported residential structure fire. While responding, firefighters received reports that occupants were trapped on the second floor. When the first engine company arrived, they encountered heavy smoke and confirmed that two children were trapped upstairs.

Firefighters immediately began rescue operations, locating both juveniles on the second floor. They were quickly removed from the home and transferred to Mercy EMS for medical care. The fire was brought under control, but the home suffered significant fire and water damage. Officials have confirmed two fatalities.

Authorities have not released the names or ages of the children. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
