St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Two people were injured Monday afternoon in a head-on crash on Missouri Highway 8 east of Payne Lane in St. Francois County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the crash happened at approximately 3:51 p.m. when an eastbound 2005 Chevrolet 1500, driven by an 18-year-old woman from Mineral Point, began sliding on an icy roadway. The truck crossed the center line and struck a westbound 2024 Chevrolet Equinox driven by a 41-year-old man, also from Mineral Point. Both vehicles sustained total damage and were towed from the scene. The drivers, who were not wearing seat belts, suffered moderate injuries. They were transported by ambulance to Parkland Health Center for treatment.
The Highway Patrol reports that icy conditions were a contributing factor in the collision.
