St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A man from Farmington was seriously injured, and a woman from Bonne Terre sustained moderate injuries in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in St. Francois County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 2:49 p.m. on Missouri Highway 8 at West Exit Street. Troopers say a 19-year-old Bonne Terre woman driving a 2012 Hyundai Elantra failed to yield while attempting to cross Highway 8 from West Exit Street onto Huntsford Road. Her car struck a 1979 Jeep Wrangler driven by a 48-year-old Farmington man. The collision caused the Jeep to skid off the roadway, ejecting the driver before striking a tree. He was flown by ARCH Air Medical Service to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis with serious injuries. The Hyundai driver was transported by ambulance to Parkland Health Center in Farmington with moderate injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene due to extensive damage.
The Highway Patrol reports the Farmington man was not wearing a seatbelt, while the Bonne Terre woman was restrained.
