Two Killed, Child Injured in Jefferson County Crash on Route V

Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Two people are dead and a young child is injured following a head-on crash Tuesday night in Jefferson County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident happened just before 9 p.m. on Route V north of Weathered Stone Drive. Troopers say a 26-year-old man, from De Soto, was driving a 1998 Dodge Dakota southbound when he lost control in a curve, crossed the centerline, and collided head-on with a 2012 Hyundai Elantra. The Dodge overturned and the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 30-year-old female, of Hillsboro, also died in the crash. A 3-year-old girl in her vehicle was taken by ambulance to St. Louis Children’s Hospital with minor injuries.

Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene. The Highway Patrol reports that neither driver was wearing a seatbelt.
