Winter Storm Watch Extended to Entire Parkland; Snowfall of 4–6 Inches Expected

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - A Winter Storm Watch has been extended northward to include all of the Parkland. The watch is in effect from midnight Saturday, January 24, through 6 a.m. Sunday, January 25, covering St. Francois, Iron, Jefferson, Madison, Ste. Genevieve, and Washington Counties.

Meteorologists say the storm could drop 4 to 6 inches of snow across the region, with travel conditions expected to become hazardous. Drivers are urged to plan ahead, allow extra time on the roads, and avoid unnecessary travel during the heaviest snowfall.

Residents should also prepare their homes for winter weather by ensuring adequate heating, checking emergency supplies, and keeping sidewalks and driveways clear. Pets and livestock should be brought indoors or given proper shelter, and anyone in need should check on neighbors, especially older adults or those with mobility challenges.

Winter Weather Safety Tips:

  • Avoid driving during heavy snow or ice.
  • Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle, including blankets, food, and water.
  • Dress in layers and protect exposed skin to prevent frostbite.
  • Keep extra food, water, and medications at home.
  • Use caution with space heaters and fireplaces to prevent fire hazards.
  • Stay informed through the National Weather Service and local media for updates.
