Washington Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Work continues on the Route 8 bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad in Washington County.
The bridge, originally constructed in 1969, is undergoing a major rehabilitation project by the Missouri Department of Transportation. Although the supporting structures remain in good condition, the driving surface has deteriorated over time and is considered to be in poor shape. Corbin Carlton, area engineer with MoDOT, says half of the new bridge deck has been poured.
The new bridge deck will feature improved drainage, new bridge approaches, and updated guardrails to enhance safety and durability.
Construction began in March and was initially expected to be completed by late September. However, due to several project delays, MoDOT has not yet determined an exact completion date.
