Washington Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Construction has resumed on the Missouri Route 8 bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad in Washington County following a three-month work stoppage.
Work on the bridge deck rehabilitation project had been paused after a site incident on November 10, prompting an investigation by MoDOT, the contractor, Union Pacific Railroad, and OSHA.
Last week, the contractor completed safety and site assessments, and crews returned Monday, February 9, to continue construction.
Crews are finishing the first half of the bridge, with plans to shift traffic to the new section by Friday, February 20. Traffic remains limited to a single lane controlled by temporary signals during this second phase, as it has since the project began.
If weather and conditions allow, the contractor aims to complete the bridge project by April 2026.
