Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - Drivers in the United States are continuing to see rising gas prices as fuel costs increase nationwide, across Missouri, and locally in St. Francois County.
According to AAA, the national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline reached $4.53. Missouri’s statewide average climbed to $4.17 per gallon.
Locally, drivers in St. Francois County are seeing prices around $4.09 per gallon for regular unleaded fuel, remaining slightly below the Missouri average but still higher than prices seen earlier this spring.
Fuel analysts say several factors are pushing prices higher heading into the summer travel season. Ongoing geopolitical tensions, concerns over global oil supplies, refinery outages in parts of the Midwest, and the switch to more expensive summer gasoline blends are all contributing to higher prices at the pump.
Experts say prices could remain volatile through the summer as global oil markets react to supply concerns and increased seasonal demand. AAA recommends motorists shop around for the best fuel prices, reduce unnecessary trips, avoid rapid acceleration, and keep tires properly inflated to maximize fuel economy.
