North County Primary School and UniTec Career Center Lift Soft Lockdowns

Bonne Terre, Mo. (KFMO) - Two schools in the North St. Francois County School District were placed on a soft lockdown late Wednesday morning as a precautionary measure.

According to district administration, both North County Primary School and UniTec Career Center were advised by local law enforcement at 11:57 a.m. to place their buildings on soft lockdown. School officials said they were informed there was no imminent threat to either campus, but the lockdowns were ordered out of an abundance of caution.

During the lockdown period, students remained safely in their classrooms while teachers and staff followed established school safety procedures.

At 12:17 p.m., school officials received the all-clear, and the regular school day resumed at both campuses.

In statements released by the district, administrators expressed appreciation to local law enforcement and school staff for their quick and professional response.

District leaders say the safety and well-being of students and staff will continue to remain the top priority as they work to maintain a safe and secure learning environment across the North County school community.
