Sao Paulo, Brazil (KFMO) – The Kansas City Chiefs fall in the season opener to the Los Angeles Chargers 27-21 at Arena Corinthians.
The Chargers were up 10-0 in the second quarter before Harrison Butker got the Chiefs on the board with a 35-yard field goal. Chargers kicker Cameron Dicker and Butker went back-and-forth in the second quarter twice each before the half. LA led 13-6.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes found the end zone for the first time of the year in the third quarter on an 11-yard scramble and the Chargers answered two minutes later with an 11-yard touchdown pass.
Mahomes found Kelce from 37-yards out in the fourth to draw the Chiefs within two points of the Chargers but they were unable to overcome the deficit.
Mahomes completed 24-of-39 passes for 258 yards and the touchdown to Kelce, he also ran for 57 yards. Hollywood Brown caught 10 passes for 99 yards.
Kansas City (0-1) will face Philadelphia in a Super Bowl rematch on Sunday on KFMO. Coverage begins at 2:00p.m.
