Missouri Tigers Edge Vanderbilt in Double Overtime

(Columbia, MO) The Missouri Tigers outlast Vanderbilt and remain undefeated after Saturday’s double overtime win, 30-27.

Kicker Blake Craig overcame three missed field goals and hit a 37 yard try in the second overtime. At the opposite end of the field, Vanderbilt kicker Brock Taylor missed a 31-yarder that would have extended the game to a third extra frame.

Missouri trailed at halftime 13-10, but were able to tie the game up five minutes into the third quarter after Craig hit a 54 yard field goal attempt. Marcus Carroll collected his only rushing touchdown of the game to give the Tigers the lead just under three minutes later, but Vanderbilt had the answer before the third quarter expired.

The score remained deadlocked at 20-20 through the fourth quarter and Vanderbilt would be the first on the board in overtime. Vandy QB Diego Pavia found Gabe Fischer from two yards out to take a lead.

MIZZOU answered on the ensuing drive as Brady Cook spotted Luther Burden III from 25 yards out for the second time in the day. Burden III had an earlier reception in the first that tied the game at 7-7.

Cook completed 23-of-37 passes for 226 yards and Nate Noel carried the ball 24 times for 199 yards.

No. 11-Missouri (4-0) is off this week and will play No. 24-Texas A&M Saturday, October 5 for their first road game of the season.
