Bonne Terre, Mo. (KFMO) – Brian Jones is stepping away from his position as head coach of the North County football program after nine seasons at the helm.
Jones dedicated 23 years to coaching football at North County. From 2000-2006 he was an assistant at the varsity level, then again from 2009-2013 after spending two years coaching at the middle school level.
As the head coach, Jones led the program to a 58-42 record from 2017-2025, including a 12-2 season in 2021 that saw the Raiders reach the Class 4 state semifinal round. North County reached the district championship game twice during Jones’ tenure (2021, 2025).
He says his time coaching was not about the wins, but instead about making an impact on the athletes.
Jones says he could not see himself anywhere else.
How will he plan on spending his Friday nights moving forward?
A statement released by the North County Athletics Department says:
"We are grateful for (Jones') leadership, loyalty, and lasting impact on North County Football and our student-athletes. Coach Jones was the definition of 'You represent more than yourself.' Raider Nation and North County Athletics appreciate all he has done for the young men and women of North County."
Jones is retiring from teaching at the end of the school year after 28.5 years of service to the North County School District.
