Potosi, Mo. (KFMO) - The Central Rebels used a strong running attack to spoil Potosi's homecoming game, defeating the Trojans 31-28.
Central (4-2) employed a unique style of offense, forgoing their quarterback for much of the game to use a two running back, Wildcat style system. That helped the Rebels march out to a 21-7 lead, although Potosi (2-4) was able to close the gap before half, making it 28-20 at the break.
The second half saw little in the way of scoring, but Central's lone scoring play proved to be the difference maker. A 23-yard field goal by Devin Graf in the 3rd quarter would seal the deal, making it 31-20. Potosi scored the game's final points with 46 seconds left in the contest, but their onside kick was recovered by Central, allowing the Rebels to run out the clock.
Central running back August Black carried the ball 26 times for 187 yards. Karras Foster, the other half of the Wildcat approach, picked up 121 yards on 17 carries. Potosi back Noah Walton had 135 yards on 19 carries.
Central hosts undefeated Valle Catholic this coming Friday on AM1240, KFMO. Potosi hosts Pacific.
