Central Rebels Defeat Ste. Genevieve In Triple Overtime

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - For the second time this season, the Central Rebels needed multiple overtimes, but they once again came out on top, knocking off the Ste. Genevieve Dragons in triple overtime 40-34.

Central (4-1) opened up a two score lead early in the contest and led 18-6 at the half. Still, Ste. Genevieve (3-2) wouldn't be denied, finding a way to reduce the deficit and eventually tie it at 26 on a touchdown late in the 4th. The ensuing PAT attempt, however, was pushed wide right, keeping it tied at the end of regulation and sending it to overtime.

Both teams scored touchdowns in the first overtime, and both converted on their two-point tries. Ste. Genevieve failed to score in the second overtime, but a rare Central field goal attempt was sent wide left and made it a triple. After Ste. Genevieve again failed to score, Central quarterback Jaxon Jones sealed the game for the Rebels by pushing it in from 5 yards out.

Jones led the Rebels in passing, going 12-21 for 204 yards and 2 touchdowns. He led the team in rushing as well on 26 carries for 171 yards and 4 more scores. Central's leading receiver was Karras Foster, 3 catches for 97 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Ste. Genevieve quarterback Luke Ferranto led the team in passing, 9-26 for 181 yards and 3 touchdowns. Ferranto added 131 yards on the ground on 18 carries. Devin Flye had 4 catches for 85 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Rebels are hosting Potosi (2-3) this Friday for their Homecoming matchup. Ste. Genevieve suits up for the Old Settlement rivalry game against Valle Catholic (4-1).
