Festus Dominates Farmington as Knights Finished Home Schedule

(Farmington, MO) The Festus Tigers and Farmington Knights took part Friday night in the final home game for the Knights this season. Both teams were coming off a loss and wanted to rebound quick with the district tournaments approaching but only one team was able to put it together on this night.

That team would be Festus who, after coming off their first loss of the season last week on senior night to De Smet Jesuit, established their fast tempo early and used their athleticism and strength defensively to shut down Farmington’s dangerous offensive unit.

Festus got out to the lead early, leading 20-0 at halftime. Quarterback Essien Smith for the Tigers accounted for all three of their first half touchdowns, one on the ground and two through the air.

The second half went the Tigers’ way as well, thanks to their starting running back Leuantae Williams, scoring both of his team’s second half touchdowns to put an exclamation point on the bounce back game from the Festus Tigers, shutting out the Farmington Knights on the road by a score of 34-0.

Quarterback Brett Drye for the Knights was held to only 4 completions through the air for 52 yards. He also ran 8 times for 45 yards. Kaesen McClain led the Knights in rushing, just one yard above Drye’s total with 46.

Festus improves their record to 7-1; the Tigers close out their season on the road next week against Jackson. Farmington’s record is now at .500 at 4-4; the Knights close out the regular season against Central Friday on AM 1240 KFMO. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 pm.
