Festus Routs North County with Shutout Win

(Festus, MO) The North County Raiders traveled to Festus to face the undefeated Tigers on Festus’ Homecoming night Friday night. Festus had come in after their toughest test last week, defeating Hillsboro 14-7, while North County just came off their win on the road against Rolla, 24-20.

The game saw Festus move up and down the field throughout the night. Quarterback Essien Smith started the scoring with a 35 yard touchdown pass to senior receiver Trey Lacey, then stifled North County’s offense after a fourth down attempt by the Raiders ended with an interception by Mason Schirmer. Schirmer would add a touchdown run of his own a couple of drives later to make the score 17-0 in the second quarter.

Festus would add two more touchdowns in the second half, courtesy of a 1 yard touchdown run by Leauntae Williams and a 95 yard pass from backup quarterback Parker Perry to Lacey in the fourth quarter. Lacey finished with 3 catches on the night for 136 yards and those 2 touchdowns.

Festus would shut out North County with a final score of 31-0. Festus remains undefeated on the year, improving to 6-0 while North County drops to 3-3. Both teams will have home games next week, as North County faces Windsor on Homecoming Night for the Raiders, while Festus remains at home to take on De Smet Jesuit.
