Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) – Former Mineral Area Cardinal Liam Hicks has been selected to the Canada 30-man roster for the upcoming World Baseball Classic.
The Toronto, Canada native spent two seasons in Park Hills (2018-2019). Hicks became the first-ever 1st Team All-American in MAC baseball history, batting .440 with 14 home runs.
In his sophomore season at Mineral Area, Hicks ranked sixth in the NJCAA with a .567 on-base percentage.
Hicks spent the 2025 season with the Miami Marlins where he batted .247 with 82 hits, six home runs, and 45 RBI.
After two seasons at MAC, Hicks transferred to Arkansas State and was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the ninth round of the 2021 MLB Entry-Draft. He was selected by the Marlins in the 2024 Rule 5 Draft.
The World Baseball Classic will be held from March 6 to March 17 in various cities in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Japan. Canada is in Pool A with Cuba, Colombia, Panama, and Puerto Rico.
The semifinals and championship games will be played at Loan Depot Park in Miami, Florida.
