Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) – The Mineral Area Lady Cardinals received the No. 14 seed in the NJCAA National Volleyball Tournament and will face three-time defending national champions Florida Southwestern on Wednesday, Nov. 19 in the first round of the tournament.
Mineral Area (27-2) won its way into the tournament on Sunday with a straight set win over Iowa Western, 25-14, 25-20, 25-12, in the Midwest B District Championship.
The appearance will be the sixth time MAC has reached the National Tournament. In 2023, the Lady Cardinals finished 15th as the No. 15 seed, losing in the first round to Northeastern Junior College, and in the consolation bracket to New Mexico.
The Lady Cardinals are seeded two spots below Snow College (14-14). Snow won its way into the tournament by beating Eastern Arizona, who claimed one of four at-large selections. Eastern Arizona was ranked No. 10 in the nation in the final regular season poll, and is the 13-seed.
The other three at-large selections include Blinn (ranked 9, seeded 9), New Mexico (ranked 11, seeded 10), Frank Phillips (ranked 12, seeded 11).
Mineral Area beat both Trinity Valley (ranked 6, seeded 6) and Indian Hills (ranked 17, seeded 15) in the regular season.
The Lady Cardinals will play at 10:00am on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at Winfield Dunn Center on the campus of Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee.
