New York, Ny. (KFMO) – The National Basketball Association announced on Monday that Farmington High School graduate, Natalie Sago, has been selected as the third woman in NBA history to officiate in the postseason.
According to the Associated Press, Sago got the call Saturday from Albert Sanders, an NBA executive who runs referee operations.
Sago has officiated more than 400 games and was promoted to the league’s full-time staff in 2018.
Per the NBA, the playoff officials selection process is based on referees’ overall evaluations from the regular season, as well as their performance in the previous round of playoffs.
37 Referees are selected for the play-in and opening rounds. That number is cut to 30 for the Conference Semifinals, then again to 20 for the Conference Finals, and 12 for the NBA Finals.
The NBA postseason begins this weekend with the play-in games beginning Tuesday night.
