Potosi, Mo. (KFMO) – The Potosi Lady Trojans volleyball team returns to the floor Tuesday, September 2 as defending Class 3 State Champions.
The Lady Trojans, under head coach Ashley Matthews for a third season, will play at West County at 5:30p.m.
Four of the six starters this season will be players likely seeing an increase in playing compared to 2024 as five seniors graduated last spring.
Ava Robart, Carsyn Yount, Layla Juliette and Tayler Rayfield were in the starting lineup for the State Championship Game, and Cloey Wigger was a valuable piece of the bench for Potosi.
Coach Matthews says it has been difficult at times as players are adjusting to new roles for the upcoming season.
Juniors Eden Robart, and Macyn McCarthy, and sophomore Eve Litton highlight the returners this season. Each had prominent roles with the varsity team as underclassmen last year; Robart and Litton as starters, McCarthy as libero.
This year’s Potosi volleyball team features seven upperclassmen, all juniors.
The Lady Trojans home opener is Thursday, September 4 against Cape Notre Dame at 6:30p.m. on AM-1240 KFMO.
