(Park Hills, MO) The third seeded South Iron Lady Panthers stunned the second seed Fredericktown Lady Cats 57-54 with a buzzer beater three-point finish from Payton German.
South Iron came out hot in the first quarter, outscoring the Lady Cats 15-10. Fredericktown flipped the script in the second quarter and outscored the Lady Panthers 18-4, making the score 33-14 in favor of the Lady Cats to end the first half. Both teams came out scoring in the second half with South Iron putting up 19 and only outscoring Fredericktown by three. The Lady Panthers put up an additional 19 points in the final quarter, outscoring the Lady Cats by 9 and securing them the victory.
Anna Parker was determined to get the win for South Iron, putting up a staggering 31 points and collecting 6 rebounds. Rena Miller put up 12 for the Lady Panthers in the close matchup and Payton German finished off the game with a buzzer beater to give her team the win. Fredericktown was led by a 14 point game from Ava Penuel.
South Iron will play the Central Lady Rebels for the tournament championship on Saturday, Dec. 30 at 6pm and Fredericktown will play the Festus Tigers for third place on Saturday at 3pm.
